Spring 2014 - Goschie Farms

When it comes to libations, Oregon is a mecca for cultivating and producing some of the best beverages in the country. While the Willamette Valley grows some of the best wine grapes in the country, we’re also known for a green, aromatic crop that produces a well known Oregon export: hops. With over 120 craft and mircobreweries, Oregon was just named the best state in the nation for beer and our hops can be found in beers around the world.
For our summer Table for Ten, iconic Portland-based Widmer Brothers Brewing partnered with Manifesto to create an unforgettable hop farm-to-table dinner paying homage to Oregon’s beer bounty. They selected Goschie Farms as the dinner location, a 100-year-old hop farm nested just outside Silverton, Oregon.
The night kicked off at the Widmer Brothers Pub in Portland where guests were welcomed onboard a Brewery Tour bus and driven out to the hop farm, sipping Widmer brews en route. served up appetizers upon arrival before Gayle Goschie showed our ten influencers around the hop farm (which happened to be in the middle of a 5 week, 24 hour a day harvest season). Widmer brewer Ben Dobler, a guest at the table, and Bent Brick owner/chef Scott Dolich teamed up to pair a four-course meal with Widmer beers, finishing off with a chocolate cheesecake and Raspberry Russian Imperial Stout.
Guests included influencers and brand marketers from Travel Oregon, Nike, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Pendleton Wool and Shwood, along with a notable creative director, commercial photographer and social media/marketing pros. A summer feast was followed by rousing guest storytelling before our we boarded the BREWVANA bus back home with a Portland City Collection tote, compliments of WILL Leather Goods.
